Why take up recreational scuba diving?
SCUBA DIVING is one of the few pastimes, which encompasses exploration, adventurers and excitement. With two thirds of the planet, covered in water, the modern day scuba diver has endless opportunities to explore a world, which promises to fascinate and delight overtime.
Malta & Gozo - Mecca for divers
The Maltese Archipelago - the Main Island Malta, the smaller Island Gozo, and the tiny little Island Comino - is a real paradise for divers and snorkels. These Islands have fortunately retained their natural state due, to a large extent, to the sea and its fauna.
The attraction of the Maltese Islands for the diver however is based on their unique topographic structure, their healthy water situation and their rich fauna. Apart from the positive aspects, one of the most important is that the Maltese Islands are an - all - year - round center for the diver. Even in a severe winter (which is extremely rare) the sea temperature never drops below 13ºC. The climate and duration of sunshine is that time of year is similar to an average Northern European summer sometimes-even better. In stormy weather sheltered coasts offer sufficient number of Interesting dive sites.
The Maltese Islands, however, are in no way a diving paradise only. They are in many other respects real Islands of adventure and stimulating experience. There thousands of years old, history is documented to the visitor of today in the form of many exiting findings and attractions - starting with 6000 years old megalithic temples of the earliest inhabitants. Finally the Maltese Islands are a renowned destination for activity holidays. Sensible and responsible people intend to keep these attractions this way. Diving has a prominent position in this concept and that is the reason why diving finds the special attention and promotional assistance of the Maltese Government and the required protection of the sea and diving in the Maltese Islands waters.
